Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) is a non-government and non-profit organisation working to improve the quality of lives of tribal, rural and urban poor in Odisha. Its primary objectives include eradication of extreme poverty and hunger, ensuring social inclusion and justice, and focussing on good governance and citizen’s rights. Its work includes helping communities identify and initiate development measures; providing training and other capacity-building support to pro-poor organisations and individuals; and carrying out research and advocacy in favour of the under privileged people especially the tribal.
With an aim to train women as chauffeurs and link them with employment opportunities, CYSD initiated an innovative programme called “Women on Wheels” for disadvantaged women and girls in Bhubaneswar. Under this programme, 35 women have been enrolled and trained and are getting ready for employment.
