ETASHA Society, a not-for-profit organisation, has been working since 2006, to skill underprivileged communities for sustained employment and income generation. It envisions a future where every Indian is self-reliant, has self-worth and leads a dignified and productive life. It works with youth and their ecosystem in low-income communities, to empower them with skills, confidence and mindsets required for modern-day work environments. Etasha implement projects relevant for employment and income-generation, and has had deep engagement with over 37,500 people including youth, ITI Trainers and aspiring women entrepreneurs. ETASHA’s Women Entrepreneurs Programme works with middle-aged women keen on income generation and enables training in Enterprise Management, Trade-specific Skills and Life Skills to set up and successfully run enterprises. The women-owned enterprises are provided support until they become self-sustainable. The programme has trained 714 women in low income communities to develop technical and business skills, thus becoming productive earners, supporting their families and earning self-respect and respect of their families and communities. These women are currently operating enterprises work in areas like manufacture and sales of LED Bulb, Garment manufacture, Handmade Soaps, Candles, Spices, Savouries (Namkeen), and Incense (Agarbattis). During the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, a lot of community daily-wagers lost means of livelihood and ETASHA trained them to make Covid-specific hygiene products like eco-friendly cloth masks, hand sanitisers, hand and face wash etc. The project is currently running with communities of Delhi and rural Haryana.
